Evaluation of Keyword

SEO tutorial discussion of the evaluation of keyword

Once you have a list of keywords related to your niche audience and search habits, your next step is to find which keywords are the most valuable of the list.
There is no way that is absolutely certain to evaluate the value of a key word, however the method / criteria described below can be used for any niche or audience, and to provide more room for customization if there are other limiting factors are not mentioned here.

There are three main factors that can be used to assess the key word :

  1. Competition .... The number of web pages (not just web sites) that must be "faced" for certain keywords, including the strength of the major web pages on this niche
  2. Demand .... Estimated number of searches for these keywords.
  3. Relevance ....How keywords are relevant to the purpose of your site

Note: I will only use the results from Google

There are some benchmarks that can be used to assess how competitive a keyword. Basically you take a look at how many web pages where the site or web page you will be competing for that keyword.

This figure can be obtained easily from Google - for example, for the keyword "wordpress theme designer", if we do a search with this keyword in Google, we can see there are many hundreds of millions of results (web pages) for keyword phrases - the number of very, very much.

Estimated number of web pages for the keyword "wordpress theme designer" on Google. Note the underlined words.

Yet there is one thing to note about the search engine; often web pages are not optimized for a keyword can also be included in search results because those pages are considered to qualify for some of the assessment criteria.

The way to narrow the search and find the real competition is to use the commands applies in Google as follows:

allintitle : - this is the search parameters to display only the pages that contain all of the target keywords in the tag title. These search parameters yield the focus, but can eliminate some of the pages with high ranking if you use long tail keywords that consist of more than 3 words.

intitle : - this search parameter displays only the pages that contain one or more words from the target keywords in title tag. Generate a broader picture, and can be used as an indicator of a more general competition.

inanchor : - This parameter displays only the pages that have inbound links (inbound links) with anchor text containing one or more targeted keywords.

There are other search parameters that can be used (such as allinanchor: or use the quotation marks "" surrounding the keywords for more specific targeting) but the three parameters shown above is sufficient to illustrate the competition of a keyword.

Here are the competition 'wordpress theme designers' use of the above parameters:

1)   Search results for allintitle: wordpress theme designer

2)   Search results for intitle: wordpress theme designer

3)   Search results for inanchor: wordpress theme designer

To estimate the competition on that keyword, you ideally need a search of the 4 types of search: basic search, intitle, allintitle, and inanchor. For keywords that are not very optimized, you will find very many search results for the basic search, but for intitle, the result is very little.Because the link is a very important factor for the ranking in search engines, then the parameter inanchor also necessary to determine the level of competition. In the search example above, shows that there are tens of millions of web pages that contain one or more keywords used in the phrase contained in the anchor text that point to that page.Comparison of the search for allinanchor produce 3.4 million web pages, it is revealed that of the many web pages that occupy the top position only a few are optimized directly with the anchor text "wordpress theme designer", most of the other pages that appear on the search results are the basis because backlinks and on-page optimization related topics wordpress / wordpress theme. After making a list and review the idea of competition for basic search (without the quotes), intitle, allintitle, and inanchor, then competition can be ranked using the following scale:

1 - Very Low
2 - Low
3 - Medium
4 - Higher
5 - Very High

So basically you have to compare the picture of the competition by using different search parameters and use them to estimate how hard the competition is real.

I rate "wordpress theme designer" has competition 'Medium' to 'High' - then a very popular keywords like 'wordpress themes' have competition 'High', and generic keywords such as 'wordpress' own competition 'Very High' - also too broad to be targeted effectively.Targeting highly competitive keywords that are usually not a good thing, but it is very difficult and takes a long time, also because the scope is too broad and do not necessarily fit the niche that worked. The exception to this is if you already have an established site with a history of backlinks and good rankings in search engines. Not for the newly created web site.I end this article first. Estimated demand and relevance will be discussed in a later article.
